Top Dogs: Floki, Bonk and Dogwifhat Prices Rise as Bitcoin and Ethereum Cool
Bitcoin It is Ethereum may have slowed downbut superior meme tokens are on the rise today.
Solana-based Dog hat (WIF) leads the charge, having jumped 11%. It now costs $3.68. About that, Bonk is up more than 6% and is now trading for $0.00004148, CoinGecko shows.
Zooming out, all three assets grew over a seven-day period – all above 33%.
The craze for meme coins and tokens comes after meme stocks continue to increase. GameStop (GME), the original asset in the space, rose 37% today following news that the video game retailer profited nearly $1 billion by selling more of its own shares. The game retailer didn’t miss the chance to capitalize on your brand’s resurgence– at least among investors.
Its Solana-based tribute token, GME, is also surging today, soaring over 20%. CoinGecko says GME is now $0.004725.
Meme coins and tokens are assets that have gained popularity through online communities and social media. Meme stock gained a following in 2021 after amateur traders began buying GameStop, which had been sold short by Wall Street firms.
The craze has led to a surge in interest in meme cryptocurrencies, which are largely based on internet jokes but can still generate astronomical gains for some lucky traders.
However, meme coins and tokens are equally risky and have been known to plummet in price and disappear completely as quickly as developers release them.
Bitcoin took a hit today after defunct cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox moved more than US$9 billion yesterday in “digital gold” for an unknown wallet – frightening industry observers.
