Modular AI Blockchain 0G releases V2 of its testnet

The 0G data availability network has announced the release of Testnet Newton v2, marking a milestone in its mission to make AI services a public good. V2 introduces a number of new features, stability fixes, and security improvements that advance the first iteration of the 0G testnet.
The launch of Testnet v2 follows the success of v1, which generated significant community engagement. More than 600,000 wallets registered for the testnet, with high demand prompting a major network upgrade offered by v2.
Testnet Newton v2 operates as a Cosmos-based proof-of-stake chain that provides greater scalability and interoperability. Introduces new modules for data availability and committee services to maintain high performance and reliability. These modules ensure that data is always accessible, significantly increasing the efficiency and functionality of the network.
Other features shipping with version 2 include improved monitoring to support better tracking of services such as storage nodes and key-value stores. There are also more robust mechanisms to mitigate abuse of the testnet faucet system.

Community interest in the 0G testnet has resulted in more than 2,500 validation applications, with shortlisted candidates carefully selected with the goal of maximizing the integrity of the testnet. Further information on the 121 selected validation applications can be found in the 0G Discord.
The v2 Testnet will gradually evolve with a focus on plagiarism detection and mitigation to ensure the originality of contributions. Robust mechanisms to detect and prevent plagiarism have been implemented and efforts will be focused on strengthening them to safeguard the 0G ecosystem. Efforts will also be dedicated to developing flexible policies for validator rotation with the aim of attracting newcomers to participate in securing the 0G network.
