Mastercard Launches Crypto Credentials for Seamless Blockchain Transactions
Mastercard has launched its Mastercard Crypto Credential, which enables blockchain transactions between corridors in Latin America and Europe. This initiative was announced in 2023 at the Consensus conference and is marked as its first real-world application with P2P (pilot-to-pilot) transactions. Additionally, crypto credentials aim to simplify and verify interactions between blockchains, allowing users to send and receive cryptocurrencies using aliases rather than complex addresses. The service is available on Bit2Me, Lirium and Mercado Bitcoin exchanges, supporting domestic and cross-border currency transfers.
