Dechert strengthens its experience in fintech and cryptocurrency regulation by hiring Neel Maitra in the strategic field
Dechert LLP today announced the addition of Neel Maitra as a partner in its financial services group, strengthening the firm’s fintech, cryptocurrency, broker-dealer and securities regulatory compliance capabilities. Mr. Maitra will join the firm’s Washington DC office.

Mr. Maitra, from a law firm based in Silicon Valley, is an experienced professional with a focus on the fintech and financial services sectors. His background includes serving as a senior special counsel and cryptocurrency specialist at the SEC, where he became a key expert on cryptocurrency regulatory matters. His client base includes large venture capital firms, cryptocurrency trading platforms, startups, and major financial institutions exploring the crypto asset space. Mr. Maitra has strong experience advising on a broad range of securities matters, from broker-dealer compliance to the launch of cryptocurrency-based investment products, including, most recently, exchange-traded products based on bitcoin and ether.
