Bloomberg Analysts Expect Ethereum Spot ETFs to Launch by Mid-July
Bloomberg ETF Analyst James Seyffart said he and his colleagues believe the spot Ethereum The ETFs could launch around July 15, once the application process is completed.
Seyffart posted the prediction on social media on July 3, but said he had “little confidence in these launch date predictions at this point.”
This prediction is tied to Bitwise’s amendment to its Ethereum spot ETF application on July 3. Seyffart noted that the only significant change was the addition of a six-month fee waiver for the first $500 million in assets. Seyffart said:
“These changes have been very minimal and [I don’t know] why ETFs wouldn’t be ready to launch within a few weeks.
He added that there was no official timetable for approvals and that the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance was “taking action.” [its] “time” to approve each fund.
“Literally nothing”
Bloomberg ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas said the latest round of comments implied “literally nothing” and claimed the funds should have already started trading.
He added that the light-hearted comments also allowed Bitwise to amend its application earlier than the July 8 deadline that it and other applicants were required to meet.
Balchunas said all indications point to a “launch [is] still valid for this month.
Meanwhile, ETF Store President Nate Geraci believes candidates will submit one more turn amendments to add fees before funds can begin trading.
SEC Issued Stock Market Approvals in May
On May 23, the SEC approved amendments to Rule 19b-4, allowing exchanges to list and trade pending spot Ethereum ETFs. The agency must now approve S-1 registration statements to allow asset managers to issue the funds, but there is no deadline to do so.
Balchunas said final approvals are guaranteed, noting:
“The good news is [the SEC] approved [the 19-b4s]It’s just a matter of logistics and the issuers are at their mercy in terms of timing.
Balchunas had previously predicted that spot Ethereum ETFs would launch before July 4, calling the prediction an “upper/lower” date. extended the earlier prediction from late June when the SEC asked modification requesters their S-1 registration statements by July 8.
Other candidates have supported launching Ethereum ETFs soon. Digital Galaxywhose application is pending with Invesco, waiting for funds to be launched in a few weeks.
