Blockchain bonds on the launch pad as Macron promotes mergers and acquisitions of big banks
There is no shortage of digital capital markets evangelists. But the adoption of blockchain bonds has been slow, in part because it wasn’t always obvious what problem the technology was solving or how it could be widely implemented. This week, however, the ECB took a big step forward by launching trials of distributed ledger technology for bonds.
Let’s discuss what the ECB hopes to achieve with this initiative. We also discuss whether it will change the face of finance or, as we know, vanish into thin air, or something in between.
