Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) among cryptocurrencies to be accepted by the Trump campaign
Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign on Tuesday started accepting crypto donationsfulfilling the presumptive Republican nominee’s promise to become the first major party candidate to adopt bitcoin, ether and other digital currencies.
The move comes weeks after the former president declared himself the crypto candidate at a Mar-a-Lago gala that boosted crypto in the 2024 campaign.
Trump’s campaign said in a statement he will “build a crypto army” to combat the infamous “anti-crypto army” that Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts campaigned against.
Although Trump has not yet proposed any concrete crypto policies, supporters of his stance are accepting the positive noises as sufficient. This is largely because Joe Biden’s administration has taken a strongly anti-crypto stance in the past.
Crypto’s emergence as a genuine campaign issue may be changing Democrats’ calculus, as evidenced by House Democratic leadership’s decision over the past 24 hours don’t pressure your members against an upcoming crypto policy bill.
